Formula
Estimated cost per shipment for each quote = quoted shipping amount + entered extra charges not already included + common additional packaging cost. With no transit limit (0), all three complete cost quotes are considered. With a positive transit limit, only quotes with known positive transit days at or below that limit are considered. Lowest estimated cost is the minimum among eligible quotes, with all exact cost ties reported. Identical-shipment cost scenario = lowest eligible estimated cost × entered shipment count. Cost difference versus highest-cost eligible quote = highest eligible cost − lowest eligible cost; percentage difference divides by the positive highest eligible cost.
How to use this calculation
Illustrative quotes A, B and C have shipping amounts 10, 12 and 20; extra charges 3, 2 and 0; and transit times 5, 3 and 1 days. Add 1 packaging cost to get 14, 15 and 21 per shipment. With a 3-day limit, A is excluded and B is the lowest-cost eligible quote at 15. For 100 identical shipments, that is 1,500. The difference versus eligible C is 6 per shipment, or 600 in that repeated-cost scenario. These starting values are examples, not current carrier rates.
- Enter three genuine, complete quotes and keep your own mapping of A/B/C to the carrier and service. A zero cost means genuinely free, not an unavailable or omitted quote. Match origin, destination, parcel count, dimensions, actual/dimensional-weight basis, shipment date, currency, account discounts and included services. Obtain rates from carriers first; this tool compares supplied amounts and does not estimate rates from weight or postcode.
- Use the same tax/duty and insurance basis across all quotes. Enter only missing charges in extras and only packaging not already included in the common packaging field. If packaging differs by quote, set common packaging to 0 and include the appropriate amount in each quote's extras. Excluded charges remain excluded from this estimate. International currency conversion, invoice adjustments, customs and eventual fees are not calculated automatically.
- The day filter uses quoted transit days, not elapsed time from today or guaranteed arrival. Include handling time consistently and consider cutoff dates, weekends, holidays, destination and service restrictions yourself. Unknown transit time is excluded when a positive limit is used. If no quote qualifies, the tool shows no eligible quote instead of picking a late or unknown-time service. Equal costs are reported as ties; there is no hidden carrier preference.
- Lowest entered cost does not mean best service or guaranteed delivery. Reliability, insurance coverage, tracking and package acceptance must be assessed separately. The batch scenario assumes identical parcels, unchanged quote terms and no volume discounts or shared pickup charge; obtain a batch quote for nonidentical shipments or shared fees. Actual invoiced charges can differ. No label, booking, purchase, shipment or account connection is created.
